Toshiba Unveils World’s Smallest Digital Camera
Toshiba Unveils World’s Smallest Digital Camera
In a big world we need small things and here is the smallest in its class - Toshiba’s HDTV digital camera which measures 1.6 inches. The IK-HD1 HDTV camera was unveiled this month at the National Association of Broadcasters and it manages to capture 1,920 x 1,080 at 30fps.
Although it’s very tiny, inside you can find 3 CCD chips with an output of 1080i broadcast quality color. I know that the future digital cameras will get even smaller, but until then Toshiba should be very proud of their achievement.

Nokia launched the Nokia N85 in the UK on 31st October. Ever since the announcement of Nokia N85, many cell phone users were eagerly waiting for the release. Like any other N-series cell phone, Nokia N85 is loaded with advanced features and comes with an elegant design.
The design is so elegant; Nokia has done a great job. As they managed to build a phone that is compact and still has quality features. Nokia N85 is a 3G mobile phone, and it is for anyone who wants to grab a Nokia phone – loaded with features, which is available at an affordable priceHitachi DZ-BD10HA Blu-Ray camcorder
Review: Hitachi DZ-BD10HA Blu-Ray camcorder
Review: Hitachi DZ-BD10HA Blu-Ray camcorder
Short Version: A versatile HD camcorder that’s perfect for home videos, but not so much for budding video professionals.
Specs:
- 1920x1080i Full HD recording
- Blu-ray disc recording option
- 30GB HDD recording option
- SD card recording option
- 7MP CMOS image sensor
- HDMI & Component output
- Optical Image Stabilization
- 2.7-inch widescreen LCD
Who should buy this
This is a great camcorder for the modern day family. The three different recording options of Blu-ray, a hard drive, or a SD cards ensure that you’ll never run out of recording space. Plus, it records in high-def which is always nice.
Novice video peeps should find the camcorder easy to use. The buttons on the right side of the camcorder controls most of the recording options. The drive selection is up front, allowing full access to the camera’s recoding modes. Switching between the three options only takes a few seconds.
The playback mode works just like most modern cameras by presenting thumbnails of different scenes. A little joystick on the left of the LCD controls the menu and playback. Easy.
The image stabilizer works well and reduces the Blair Witch-effect to a minimum. Unfortunately, the video codec doesn’t seem to like quick motions so while the picture isn’t jerky, the image does become pixelated - a lot.
In fact, pixelation is a common ‘feature’ of the camera. While it’s a decent option for the high-def Dad, this isn’t meant for any professional video work.
Who shouldn’t by this
Professionals, students, anyone that wants a high-quality picture might not be satisfied with this Hitachi camcorder. It claims a 1080i picture and while it is in fact that resolution, the sensor doesn’t capture quality pictures. Everything is pixelated and movement makes it worse.
Low light recording is terrible. I can’t stress that enough and without a hot shoe or built-in light, you’re stuck with whatever ambient light is available.
When this camera is on a tripod and outside on a partly cloudy day, the picture is amazing. It looks great but movement in different lighting kills the quality.
Final thoughts
The camera offers tons of HD recording options which is great. I just wish the picture quality was a bit higher. Home users: great option. Pros on a budget: might want to look elsewhere.

Hitachi demonstrates wireless HD camcorder transfer at CEATEC
Hitachi demonstrates wireless HD camcorder transfer at CEATEC
If you're still in disbelief that wireless HD is finally catching on, here's yet another demonstration that just may sway you into being a believer. Hitachi demonstrated a wireless HD camcorder setup at CEATEC in Japan, which saw a hacked up handycam get fitted with a protruding wireless card and stream high-def content to a nearby TV via DLNA (got all that?). Obviously, there's no telling when or if the company will clean the application up and bring it to retail, but in all seriousness, we have our doubts about the value proposition here.

Hitachi reveals Blu-ray / HDD / SDHC DZ-BD10HA high-def camcorder
Hitachi reveals Blu-ray / HDD / SDHC DZ-BD10HA high-def camcorder
Far from being the first Blu-ray hybrid camcorder from Hitachi, the DZ-BD10HA ups the ante even further by tossing in a third format. Yep, this Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) camcorder can record to BD, SDHC or the 30GB hard drive. Additionally, you'll find a 7-megapixel CMOS sensor, push-of-a-button dubbing from HDD / SDHC to Blu-ray, a host of editing functions, a transcoding feature to transfer HD videos to vanilla DVDs, face detection and optical image stabilization for good measure. The pain? $999 when it lands in North America next month.

Hitachi's new DZ-BD10H camcorder pairs Blu-ray with a 30GB HDD
Hitachi's new DZ-BD10H camcorder pairs Blu-ray with a 30GB HDD
We're not saying it can't be done, but you should have some considerable trouble managing to run out of room for your expertly-shot, highly-narrative vacation antics with Hitachi's new DZ-BD10H camcorder, which records 1080p HD video to Blu-ray discs or to its built-in 30GB hard drive. There's even an SD slot, which we aren't positive you can record video to, but it's a fair guess. Other specs include a 2.7-inch LCD and a 10x optical zoom. Price should be around $1,500 when it hits Japan on August 9, but no solid word on a US berth just yet.

Hands-on with Hitachi's DZ-BD70E and DZ-BD7HE Blu-ray camcorders
Hands-on with Hitachi's DZ-BD70E and DZ-BD7HE Blu-ray camcorders
That's right folks -- you've read about them, you've dreamed about them, you've written lengthy, iambic poems to them, and now you get to see our gigantic hands on them. As you may remember, the Hitachi DZ-BD70E and DZ-BD7HE are the first ever Blu-ray camcorder models; the former recording direct to disc, and the latter rocking a hybrid disc or 30GB hard drive situation. Both cameras are largely the same, though the DZ-BD7HE seemed to be slightly larger, which makes sense. They've got a very comfortable feel when you're shooting with one, and we certainly could imagine ourselves filming HD 'videos' with either. Check out the gallery for a plethora of exciting photos.
